Our Mission
Queensferry
Churches' Care in the Community was established in 1993 as a registered
charity dedicated to providing quality support services to older
people and carers within the communities of rural north-west
Edinburgh.*
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of
those we support, and to enable them to maintain an active independent
lifestyle.
What we do
Our current services include:-
Daycare:
For
older people with dementia or who are otherwise confined to their homes
due to stroke , illness or other long term conditions.
Befriending:
Trained volunteers will visit older people who are living alone to offer companionship, a friendly ear and
the chance to connect with the wider community.
Home Support:
Our Home Support service closed to new referrals in January 2011.
Carer Support Service:
Provides support, information and learning opportunities to all carers in rural north-west Edinburgh.*
Information resource for carers and older people within the communities we support
Support the Local Senior Forum:
To
enable older people within the communities we support to have a say in
local, regional and national policies which may affect their lives.
The organisation receives regular funding from:
Department of Health and Social Care -City of Edinburgh Council
Lothian Health / Lothian Primary Health Care Trust
Services for Communities-City of Edinburgh Council
As
the above funding does not cover all of QCCC 's running costs we have a
comprehensive fundraising programme each year within the
communities we serve. This is a vital part of our work without which we
could not operate our current level of service. We are also very well
supported by donations from various local organisations and
individuals.
*North-West Rural Edinburgh for the
purposes of our services, covers the communities of South Queensferry,
Dalmeny, Kirkliston, Newbridge, Ratho Station and Village.
